Hey Guys,
I don't think we ever came to a decision on this so I am going to lay it out in options. Please choose which option you like best. If you have an althernative option thats fine just be clear about how it would work. Also keep in mind these are just ruff ideas and can be tweaked.
1) Each weapon only has one type of ammo that goes with it. (eg. the missle weapon fires missle ammo, the smart missle weapons fire smart missles, the cluster missle weapons fire cluster missles). If user wants to be able to fire differnt type of ammo they need to either mount one of those guns in their avaialble gun mounts. So users could have the ability to fire several differnt types of missles depending on which guns they have mounted.
2) Each weapon has different types of ammo that can be fired by it but it is still specific to the weapon. (eg. I have a 22inch missle launchers, they can fire 3 different types of ammo demding on what the user has, either slugs, explosive, buckshot). Weapons can be upgraded to have faster firiing rates, less weight, ability to fire differnt types of ammo. So this also means that users might have multiple weapons on their ships that could fire differnt types of ammo so they would need to be a change ammo button along with change weapon butotn. You might also get into situations where certain guns fire faster then others.
3) FPS stype - Each weapon only has one type of ammo with it. If you own the weapon you need buy ammo for that type of weapon but you can switch to that weapon any time and fire it if you have ammo.
