Should we use OpenGL (2D only) for graphics?
Most definately, better 2D graphics.

Eh, make it an option but keep software-rendered SDL around.

No, my computer can barely take SDL as it is.

Development of Epiar 0.6.0 continues on all fronts, including the art front! Sure the art in Epiar is amazing (I'm actually getting requests from art galleries asking if they can post professionally printed screenshots of Epiar next to their Van Gogh crap) but it's about to get even better! We're getting help from Fernando Rodrigues, who recently sent me two photorealistic planets, and two of his spacescapes have also been merged into the codebase as menu backgrounds. So when you see an amazing looking new planet in 0.6.0, you'll know who it came from. But don't stop there! Enjoy Fernando's art now at his website, http://burning-liquid.deviantart.com/, where you can also order professional prints of his work to decorate your cubical, dorm, lonely bachelor pad or wherever! Enjoy!
