Should we use OpenGL (2D only) for graphics?
Most definately, better 2D graphics.

Eh, make it an option but keep software-rendered SDL around.

No, my computer can barely take SDL as it is.

Hey all, Chris here, programming away at Epiar 0.3.0. Some greatly needed changes are coming up in this codebase besides the new features. First up, I greatly cleaned up the video code and sped it up a lot, so Epiar uses CPU amounts randing from about 20-45% on my machine now, so that's been greatly cleaned up since the horrible 0.16 days. I've also looked into Reipel, the level editor, but haven't started quite yet. I'm also getting ready to move Epiar to an autoconf based build system, so that should help make building Epiar much easier and make Epiar much more portable. Also, featurewise, Epiar 0.3.0 will have an all new (and working) HUD, space races, an all new landing dialog and completely revamped and sped up GUI code. Those are my main objectives for this next release. 0.4.0, although a month or two away from being started, will probably aim at including missions, a spacebar, and simple arcade mode-only multiplayer support. Anyway, keep the ideas coming, and let us know of all troubles you have. Thanks for your continued support!
