How to Play

Epiar is an open-ended space arcade/trading simulation. In Epiar, you act as a single ship which is always located at the center of the screen. Generally, unless you're loading from a saved game, you will begin the game in a small shuttlecraft with little or no weapons. The objective of the game is to gain credits (money) through a variety of tasks (trading cargo, accepting missions, pirating other ships -- your choice) in order to upgrade your ship and buy better ships. You may also wish to explore the galaxy or participate in one of the storylines the game contains. It is open-ended: it's up to you how to play.

The easiest way to get started is by using the arrow keys to move your ship around. Fly atop the nearest planet and slow down, then press the L key to land. Landing your ship brings up the planet landing dialog where you can get information about the planet, buy items to trade (you begin the game with some credits), buy ship upgrades, buy new ships, and visit the local bar for advice or fun.

Finding other planets can be accomplished using a variety of methods: basic exploration, buying a map upgrade, accepting a mission (which will inform you of a planet's location possibly, though not necessarily the best way to get there) and so on.

The finished game will also include a tutorial to help you with the basics of the game. In the meantime, if you're still lost, please contact us and we'll be more than willing to help you play the game -- we might even give you a cheat code!
